Superintendents: Talking and Reflecting Together

Designed for: Experienced Superintendents

How Does startPLUS Differ from start?
startPLUSparticipants
continues where start leaves off, providing an in depth forum for superintendents with a minimum of one year of experience. It is designed to provide an opportunity to dialogue confidentially in a small group setting, on issues that each face in his/her job. Previous participation in start is not required. By expanding the forum and adding additional superintendents with limited experience, we feel this seminar will continue to meet your needs to network, share ideas and maximize your performance.

How Does It Work?
startPLUSparticipants attend regional day-long sessions four times a year with up to 15 other superintendents, plus a combined meeting held in Lansing, MI. Each regional meeting will be hosted by a superintendent who will have the opportunity to share a point of pride in their district. An individual topic, chosen by the group, and personal challenging issues will be presented by each superintendent on a rotating basis with direct, honest feedback and suggestions by other forum members. Participants will gain valuable insight by networking with members of other startPLUS groups and with outside speakers.

EachstartPLUSgroup is facilitated by an experienced, professional educator who ensures that participants receive valuable growth experiences. The facilitator also meets once with each member, one-on-one, in their district.

These meetings allow superintendents to step back from the day-to-day pressure of their jobs, take a more global perspective, and focus on the critical issues of running their school districts. The result is a powerful process that helps emerging leaders meet today's challenges and issues.

Is there A Fee to Participate?
Only a registration fee of $100 which covers meeting costs and a drawing for a scholarship to be awarded to a deserving senior by the winning superintendent. The program is underwritten by Granger Construction as their contribution to the leadership development of the superintendents of our state.
